Yeah the show was on Friday and I'm blogging it on Monday (get over it). This weekend was full of so much booze, burritos and Brass (oh and Superbowl),so the Friday night show pretty much boosted the entire weekend. Twas my second time seeing No BS Brass Band, but my first seeing them in RVA (weird).
Had never been to Strange Matter before this, but it is an awesome venue with pinball machines and hipster bartenders, the perfect place to see a band like No BS Brass. The show was full of drunks and funk, and featured No BS covering songs like Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" and A-ha's "Take on Me". One of the opening acts, Rude Zombie, attempted to bring back early 1990s-era Ska, but ended up failing hard like Gwen Stefani's solo career. Nonetheless, No BS was a kick ass show and I am definitely looking forward to seeing them again.
